Every Friday, I tell the kids as they are leaving, "Be good, do good!" and "Do something nice for somebody, it will make both of you feel better." The more research that is done, the more we are finding out that we can make ourselves happy by making others happier. Simple acts of kindness are proven to generate a positive attitude in those around us as well as ourselves. I shared this NYTimes article with the staff:

I was asked to share with parents the extreme ease that underage students can get vapes over the internet. While it is difficult to get one in person, it is simple to get one over the internet. The online business only has to ask the purchaser's birthday. That's it. There is no verification. If you have $15 and are willing to type in a fake birthday, you can have a vape sent to you (or your friend's house) and have it within two days. With virtual currency (including Facebook, Venmo, Cashapp, etc.), students have access to funds that many parents don't realize. Please talk to your student about your expectations on vapes as that has shown to decrease usage.

This is our third week and first full week of school. Traditionally, this is the time when see an increase in common colds with high school students. If symptoms are severe, please seek medical attention. A good sleep schedule, washing hands, and not sharing drinks will go a long ways towards preventing the common cold.

Be Well,
