Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
FACEBOOK
In this age of social networking, staying in touch with others is faster and easier than ever. With a series of clicks and key strokes we can share photos and update friends and family who live thousands of miles away in a matter of seconds. It is a handy tool to stay in touch with others.
The argument could be made, however, that despite the personal nature of networks like this, the world is becoming less and less personal. Why would you ask someone how they are doing when you can go to their wall and see for yourself? Why would you try to make new friends when you have so many on your computer already?
The writer to the Hebrews encourages us to network with others, but not just to be a "friend" on someone's Facebook page. He tells us to stir up love and good works in one another, to encourage, support, and grow with one another. This can only be done through true Christian friendship.
How can we do this? The best way is certainly through attending church. By hearing God's living Word, we grow in our own faith and encourage everyone else attending. Through mutual Bible Studies we can support and correct each others knowledge and understanding. Through prayer we call on the Holy Spirit to build one another up in love and faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.
The entire Holy Christian Church are friends through our mutual faith in God. As Judgment Day draws nearer and nearer it is important that we continue to grow our network of believers, that we continue to share our faith with others, faith in the fact that God sent His Son to die to take away our sins. It is only because of this sacrifice of Christ that we have the peace and joy of forgiveness, and it is only because of Christ that we can share the good news that the same peace and joy we have is for all people.
