Province Of West Wales - Update

Community Awards 2017

The Idea...
The MCF has committed an additional £3 million to be awarded in the form of 300 grants to local and regional charities across the Provinces and Metropolitan Grand Lodge in 2017. The MCF Community Awards are intended to raise the profile of the Foundation within the masonic, non-masonic and charity sector communities, whilst at the same time acknowledging and celebrating the 300th anniversary of Grand Lodge.

The Opportunity...
The Province of West Wales has been invited to submit a shortlist of 4 charities to share a total of up to £50,000 between them. For the first time in the history of the masonic charities, it is proposed that we reach out directly to the wider, non-masonic population, to ask them how they would like the masonic community to support people in need in their area. The general public will be invited to vote for a charity on the shortlist.

The winning charity in West Wales stands to receive up to £25,000, with further awards of up to £15,000, £6,000 and £4,000 for the other shortlisted charities depending on how the public vote. Of course all Freemasons are members of the public and they can vote too.

Where do you fit in?

With voting taking place in Spring 2017, time is of the essence. The PrGM and his team need to finalise a working shortlist of suitable charities at a meeting on 20th September 2016 and he invites all members of the Province to get involved in the process by suggesting who should be on the that list. There is more detailed information on the types of charities and activities which can be considered on the Provincial Website.

To suggest a charity please reply to this email (if you had it directly), or email the Provincial Assistant Grand Secretary, James Ross - asec@wwmason.com if you received this email from your Lodge Secretary.

The Provincial Grand Master looks forward to your feedback.
