Hello Firstname

Wednesday 4 December
Justin Quinnell - Aristotle's Hole. An evening by this well known photographer explaining the vagaries of pin-hole photography. If you want some idea of what we can expect next Wednesday, just visit Justin's website.

WCPF Exhibitions
There are two WCPF competitions looming on the horizon for entry by individual members (as opposed to Club entries), these are the Knightshayes Trophy and the Members' Exhibition. Details of both are outlined below.

The Knighthayes Trophy is for 2 prints on the subject of 'Airborne'. This is a subject that is open to wide interpretation, so get your creative juices flowing between now and the handing in date, which is at DPIC at Exeter on 23 Feb. You don't need to go to Exeter yourself, as several BPS members are sure to be going and at least one will be only too pleased to act as your delivery boy/girl. Further details and entry form here.

The Members' Exhibition is for Prints and Projected Images. The closing date is 8 March (the WCPF Council Meeting). This is for both Prints and digital images. there are 3 classes for prints: Monochrome, Colour & Nature and 4 classes in the digital images: Open, Creative, Nature & Photo Travel. The closing date is 8 March but again BPS members will be going, so the same delivery system will operate for the prints. The digital entries should be made on line. Wildlife Photographer Exhibition of the Year at M-Shed
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is on at the M Shed from 30 November - 23 February.

Encounter the rich array of wildlife on our planet in this world-renowned exhibition from the Natural History Museum – touring at M Shed for the very first time.

Now in its 49th year, the competition provides a global showcase of extraordinary images celebrating the drama, beauty and splendour of the natural world with astonishing, creative and sometimes humorous wildlife photography.

Suitable for all ages, the images are thought-provoking and stunning in every sense.

Photoshop CC
I've left this article in from last week's edition as the offer is only open until Monday 2 December.

Nick Ayers has dropped me a line to mention that Adobe are offering, for a limited time only, an edition of the new Photoshop CC for photographers, for the princely sum of £8.78 per month which is drastically below the figures that were bandied about when CC was first introduced. The following is what Adobe have to say:

Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 for £8.78/month
Introducing a special Creative Cloud plan for photography enthusiasts to pros. Get the latest version of Photoshop CC and Lightroom, 20GB of cloud storage, and a Behance ProSite for just £8.78/month. Offer valid until December 2.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
At the recent PAGB Distinctions weekend at Weymouth, two BPS members gained awards, Mary Pears was awarded the CPAGB and Sue O'Connell the DPAGB - so extremely well done to both. Unfortunately nobody was around to record Sue's presentation, but Penny Piddock of Dorchester Camera Club happened to have camera in hand for Mary's presentation, the photo is reproduced below - the eagle eyed among you will notice that Mary obviously had some premonition as to what was to happen, as she turned up in a PAGB blue blouse!
Mary being presented with her award by Leo Rich, President of the PAGB.

Another name that is beginning to challenge Val Duncan for most published name is Sue O'Connell who was awarded a Gold Medal at the recent Swansea International Exhibition, this was on top of 8 other acceptances. Not to let the Duncan name to disappear from this section completely, Greg has recently been awarded a Judges Choice award in the Inter Federations Annual PDI Competition. To see his winning image, download the PAGB e-News in the section above.

If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
