Photography Course - STILL A FEW PLACES LEFT!
For any members who feel that they could benefit from a bit of formal photographic training, BPS runs it's own course from September through to November. Not having been at club for the last few weeks, I've lost touch with what's going on; this has resulted in the newsletters being a little sparse. Discount at Calumet
I was talking to Andy, the manager of the local Calumet branch at Montpelier, and he mentioned that BPS members are eligible for a 10% discount on all Calumet "own brand" product. You will need to show evidence of BPS membership, so if you plan shopping there and don't have a membership card, please have a word with Carol on any Wednesday evening and she'll sort you out! National Trust Competition - Lacock
We have received the following from the National Trust at Lacock:
 
Hello,

I work for National Trust property Lacock Abbey and would like to draw the attention of your photography society to our current photography competition.

The competition, titled Love Lacock, asks for photographs of Lacock village, abbey or countryside that reflect what the photographer loves about this area.
Please also submit a statement with the image of 50 words or less that describes what the image represents.

There are four categories:
  1. Digital photography (aged 17+)
  2. Traditional photography (aged 17+ and film/traditional processes)
  3. Young photographer: 11 and under (any medium)
  4. Young photographer: 12 – 16 (any medium)

The prize:
  • 20 finalists will be chosen to form an exhibition in the grounds of Lacock Abbey throughout October 2014. The winner of each category and overall winner will be decided by visitors to this exhibition.
  • Category winners will receive a gift hamper
  • The overall winner will receive a VIP Lacock Experience for themselves and up to four guests which includes: a private tour of the abbey’s attic,  learning about Fox Talbot’s photographic process with Roger Watson the curator of the Fox Talbot Museum, an indulgent cream tea in The Stables tea-room and 10% discount in Lacock’s three National Trust shops.

Location Shoot
Just to let everyone know that local photographer, Matt Revell, will be organising a location shoot at Stinchcombe on the 17th of August. This will be with Lady M who will be posing in evening wear and boudoir sets which Matt says he can thoroughly recommend (I bet he can!).
 
The shoot is from 12 till 4.30 with break in the middle. The cost is £60 with a £40 deposit to secure your place.

We regularly receive emails from Time Line Events publicising their photographic events, these range from local steam engine shoots through to events like the Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta at the end of August. If you'd like to see what they have to offer, please follow this link to their website.
