Romans 8:31-34 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

WHY DID JESUS ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?
HE ASCENDED TO INTERCEDE FOR US

When human beings are not on speaking terms, they may use a neutral party to repair their relationship. It happens in the courtroom. In the courtroom we call upon a lawyer to stand up for us and speak in our behalf with the Judge. After all, he knows the law and understands the proper order that things proceed. As human beings we also need someone to intercede for us, to go to the Father for us. The Bible says that Jesus our ascended Lord is that intercessor who speaks for us before the throne of God.

The Apostle Paul comforts us with this fact in Romans 8:31-34. We may have this confidence, that when the day of Judgment arrives, He will once more intercede for us, and pleading His own suffering and death on our behalf and will save us from the wrath to come. So Jesus has not only reconciled us to God, He still speaks for His people and intercedes for us. Our ascended Lord is still working earnestly for us.
