2012 TALKING PICTURES FESTIVAL
March 8 – 11, 2012
|
|
Please join us this evening at Evanston's Talking Pictures Festival! The festival opens with "Pink Ribbons, Inc." in honor of International Women's Day.
"Pink Ribbons, Inc." is a revealing new documentary by veteran Canadian filmmaker Léa Pool that takes a hard look at the pink-ribbon "cause marketing" industry, questioning who profits: the cause or the company?
This year’s festival line-up includes a wonderful mix of independent films, including many productions from the Chicago area ranging from Evanston filmmaker Bob Hercules' "Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance" and Xan Arranda's concert film "Andrew Bird: Fever Year" to "Fully Loaded" by Shira Piven (of Evanston's renowned Piven Theater family).

Other festival highlights include the evocative "Maria, My Love" and entertaining shorts programs, including Oscar-nominated short films and "Shorts from the Windy City." The Talking Pictures Festival has always had a particularly strong documentary selection and we are proud to present you this year with some outstanding films on topics as varied as restorative justice, arts, Northwestern's debate team, refugees, and light pollution.
Don't miss this chance to see a great new crop of independent films, meet many of the filmmakers up close and in person, and participate in our post-screening discussions!
