Use Art to Draw Attention to Your Events

To whom it may concern,

My name is Jens Galschiøt. I am a Danish artist and I have created three copper sculptures specifically for COP29 in collaboration with CARE Denmark, supported by both the former and current Danish Climate Ministers (Dan Jørgensen & Lars Aagaard).

The sculptures are titled “Double Standard” and are a striking installation that highlights how, despite our extensive knowledge, we are often unwilling to allocate sufficient resources to solve climate issues. This dilemma confronts humanity globally, as individuals, and as nations.

The sculptures are available to summit participants to be used as a visual framework and inspire meaningful discussions. For example as short or long term exhibitions at side events, at press conferences, receptions and at pavilions.

We offer to exhibit the sculptures at no cost for those who wish to use them. We will handle the setup and takedown. Each sculpture requires only a 50x50 cm floor area and stands 2.5 meters tall with a copper base. Please follow this PDF-link for further details.

As an artist, I have previously participated with climate-related art at many other summits (e.g., COP15, COP21, and COP23). In my experience, art can serve as a powerful complement to the many words exchanged at a climate summit. My sculptures are often used by the press as a sort of mascot for the event.

I hope you will be interested in using the artwork in various contexts. We are happy to set it up both at the summit and in the city of Baku if needed. We have three sculptures, so we can organize multiple exhibitions simultaneously. Please feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities.

My team and I will be present throughout the entire summit. We look forward to collaborating with you and can be reached at:

Sincerely,
Jens Galschiøt

About Jens Galschiøt

Danish artist Jens Galschiøt has created many socio-critical sculptures and installations through the years. Most often they are placed in public spaces around the world – as needle-sticks and silent reminders of a world that, in his opinion, is out of balance, and where exploitation of the world’s resources, inequality and migration are a constant part of the picture.
