We are honored to have Patricia E. Deegan, Ph.D. as an Alternatives 2012 Keynote speaker! Pat is an internationally known thought leader, researcher and inspirational speaker in the field of mental health recovery and the empowerment of people diagnosed with mental illness. She is the creator of CommonGround, a web application to support shared decision making in the psychopharmacology consultation. Pat is an activist in the disability rights movement and has lived her own journey of recovery after being diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teenager. She is an Adjunct Professor at Dartmouth College School of Medicine and at Boston University, Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Formerly known as "Newcomer Orientation", the Newcomer & Peer Connect Orientation will take place just prior to the official opening of the conference, Wednesday October 10th, from 5-6PM. All attendees are welcome! We will be going over conference basics and have a few activities which we hope will promote new connections and help attendees get the full Alternatives experience!
