Spring 2017

7 Most Endangered 2016

Ahead of the Rome Summit on 25 March, Europa Nostra calls on EU leaders to seize this historic opportunity to acknowledge the positive and cohesive role of cultural heritage for the future of Europe, thereby reiterating the European Heritage Alliance 3.3 appeal ahead of the informal Malta Summit of 2 February. EU Heads of State or Government will meet this weekend in Rome for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaties but also to debate about the future of the EU. Europa Nostra will also be represented in Rome. EN Board members and Secretary General will contribute to debates stressing that culture is a strategic resource for Europe’s future. They will also carry the flag of Europe’s culture and heritage during the March for Europe on 25 March.
In the above context, Europa Nostra’s leadership had meetings in Valletta last week. On the occasion of the Maltese Presidency of the EU, and in the presence of the Maltese Minister of Culture, Owen Bonnici, Europa Nostra launched on 17 March at the iconic Fort St.Angelo its new slogan: #Heritage4Europe! This slogan will be used and shared widely before, during and after the European Year of Cultural Heritage in 2018.
To underpin our campaign #Heritage4Europe, we will soon begin using our brand new website with a separate website dedicated to our Awards. Read more
