Next Wednesday we are pleased to welcome Victoria Hillman who will be inviting us into the Wonderful World of Macro. Here is something about Victoria:
Victoria studied Zoology with Marine Zoology at the University of Wales, Bangor before going on to study for an MSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation at Edinburgh Napier University.

Nature has been a passion from an early age with photography following closely behind. She has developed her scientific and photographic skills alongside each other and although specialising in macro photography, Victoria does still photograph other wildlife. Victoria is a Manfrotto Ambassador and guide for NaturesLens and has contributed stills, video and articles to magazines, books and TV series including National Geographic and the BBC, with awards in various competitions.
Victoria published her first book Forgotten Little Creatures in 2017 bringing together photography with scientific and historical facts and is now continuing to work on the project and further books in the series.
In 2018 Victoria joined the judging panels for both British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) and Bird Photographer Of The Year (BPOTY).

RPS Exhibition - Altered Ocean |
Over the Easter weekend I had the opportunity to visit the new home of The Royal Photographic Society now established here in Bristol.
The new building is situated on the newly developed part of the Central Trading Estate (now called Paintworks) and is opposite Arnos Vale Cemetery.
In the excellent RPS Gallery, the current 'Altered Ocean' exhibition (on until 23rd June) dwells with the problem of plastic pollution. But gradually the photographer Mandy Barker ARPS, with tremendous skill and creativity turns the subject matter into Art.
This is an exhibition not only for those interested in the plastic menace but also for anyone with an interest in creativity. Mandy Barkers pictures tend to be large (one floor to ceiling), one features 992 balls, and 769 of them footballs. It is a very colourful exhibition and would, I'm sure, also appeal to children who would enjoy looking for all the minute objects that go to make a sort of plastic soup.
It is an exhibition featuring both powerful and beautiful images, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
