Dear Cut A Shine Mailing List.....
Two shows to bring to your attention, and a free tune from our forthcoming album (!) YES! Album! Eh? A live Barn Dance Band with an album? After 8 years of doing shows? We've tried, it's loud and raucous...... just mastered and getting pressed up soon, and perhaps with a fully animated DIY Hoedown Instructional DVD... who knows.....
So, Friday Folk returns to The Stoke Newington International Airport on 15th March. The venue is being demolished by the inevitable march of progress and residential development, so catch this show.... loads of bands, and a special Kidnap Alice collaboration with The Jupiter Club House Band getting all brassy and groovy - Bluegrass like you've never heard before!
THEN! We return to The Russet for another Cut A Shine SUPPER CLUB on Saturday 16th March. The Burns night in January was such a lovely event, we thought we'd host another one. This time it's in celebration of the Emerald Isle, on St Patricks Day... We've drafted in Barra Collins Master of Ceremonies and a lovely Irish Balladeer to entertain us over a traditional Irish Dinner..... then it's all in for a hoedown and ceili!
Please see below for details.....

Cut A Shine Barn Dance and The Russet present St Pat's Craic, an evening of fine dining, dancing ceremony and song in celebration of the Ireland's infamous Patron Saint.
Forget about the four leaf clovers, leprechauns and green Guinness hats on St Patrick's Day this year, and join us at The Russet, Hackney's newest restaurant and venue space. Prepare for an evening of traditional Irish Cuisine, Speeches and Ceremony led by Mr Barra Collins; mournful ballads and a few witty ditties from Irish Balladeer James McDonald; culminating in a rowdy hoedown led by Cut A Shine. Then, after all that, a disco until 1am.
Menu: Irish Stew, Soda Bread, Colcannon, Fine Ales and Stout and Whiskies.
Barra Collins. Irish actor whose performances have been referred to as “sparky” (Guardian), “ludicrously entertaining” (The Londonist) and “great fun” (The Times). Barra will be Master of Ceremonies on the evening providing some nonsense from the motherland. www.barracollins.com
James McDonald. Singer, Promoter and all round Folk Bad-Boy, James sings a fine ditty, and will be rolling out some proper old ballads from the homeland, as well a few cheeky ones towards the end of the night.
The Russet. Independent and underground Restaurant and Arts Space based in the Hackney Downs Studios, with a penchant for locally sourced produce and proper ingredients, real fine coffee and scrumptious ales and ciders.
