In January 2019 British Canoeing will launch their new Personal Peformance Awards which will replace the star award system that is currently in operation.
The Coaching and Leadership Framework is also undergoing massive transformation.
Surrey Scout Water Activities Club is pleased to be in a strong position to be able to provide the Personal Performance Awards in both Canoe and Kayak up to and including the White Water Award Level.
We at SSWAC have worked hard to try and understand how the permit scheme within scouting fits in with the British Canoeing Schemes that have changed vastly over the years as the ethos is that provided people remain up to date, no award will become invalid.
To this end we have revised the permit scheme guidance document that we have previously published to include our own interpretation on how the new British Canoeing schemes will sit along side the Scout Permit Scheme. Please find this attached and on our website. We must stress this is OUR interpretation at this time.
We have been in contact with Gilwell and they have confirmed they are working with British Canoeing on how the two schemes will fit together. They plan to launch guidance on the new coach awards in January and then they will look at the other areas of change, hence our approach of getting our guidance out there now to offer you some support.
