Hello, Firstname

Wednesday 22 September - Important Information
After what seems like a lifetime, we are going to re-start live meetings at Unit 13 next Wednesday, 22 September. We appreciate that not everybody will be comfortable meeting in enclosed spaces, so we will be starting our return to Unit 13 with a series of hybrid meetings. These meetings will take the form of conventional "face to face" meetings for a limited number of members, initially 40, this meeting will also be streamed live over Zoom for those members who either didn't manage to book one of the 40 places or don't want to visit Unit 13 just yet.

Below are instructions from our Zoom guru, Matt de Beger:
Generally
  1. Each booking is for one person only, please note that if you wish to book as a couple or a group, you will need to complete the form for each person.
  2. Booking is open for 1 week at a time and you will NOT be able to pre-book for future dates (i.e., book for more than one week).
  3. The maximum availability is 40 and once all spaces are taken, you will not be able to select a date/time to book.
  4. There is a cut off time of booking a slot, this is 4hrs before the start of any meeting/session (15:30hrs)
  5. We will use the same system for booking a place for any event where there is a BPS hybrid meeting at Unit 13

How to book
  1. Please follow this link to make your booking. https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/BPSBooking@bristolphoto.co.uk/bookings/

  4. Select the date/time on the screen for the session/meeting.
  5. Fill in the name/email of the person attending (if attending as a couple - you need to complete the form again)
  6. Click on book - you will see a message of you have booked a seat.

You will receive a email confirming your booking and within that email you will get an iCal for your digital calendars, you will also be able to cancel your booking using the link provided in this email. These emails will be sent from BPSBooking@bristolphoto.co.uk

You will also receive a reminder email at least one day before any event.

Please only email webmaster@bristolphoto.org.uk if you have any technical issues in accessing the link to book, a manual entry can be made on your behalf with name & email of those wishing to make a booking (Note this will not override the max limit of 40 seats or guarantee you a seat). Do NOT email if there are no slots left and you are wanting to book a seat.

Closing Date - Print Competition, Round 1
The closing date for Round 1 of the Print Competition is Wednesday, September 22, by which time we should be back to meeting at Unit 13. If you are unable to attend in person on that day, we have arranged with WEX that you can hand in your print entries to them any time the shop is open, up to and including the closing date. We are grateful to the WEX staff for offering this facility.

The Prescribed topic for Print Round 1 is Street/Candid.

Please note that entry labels for the backs of your prints will now be downloadable from the website for you to cut out and stick on. They are also available as an attachment to this newsletter.

Thank you for supporting last season’s NotThePrint competitions. Remember that images entered in those rounds are eligible for submission as real prints. We look forward to seeing some great prints – and plenty of them – this year.

If you have any questions or problems, please contact David Alderson, Print Competition Secretary, on 07873 231413 or email printcompetitions@bristolphoto.org.uk

DI Group
DIG meeting – Last Monday

Those who attended the DIG meeting last Monday were treated to some wonderful  images on a variety of subject matter and the stories behind them. One of them was a set from Richard Kay on Arctic Foxes. Richard announced today (Wednesday) that he has now got his Fellowship of RPS – many congratulations Richard.

Andrew Whettam showed magnificent images taken on a mountain walk in Scotland. We don’t appreciate the effort that goes into mountain photography. As we ran out of time I could not show the video of his trip (20 min) which shows the difficulties and hardship you have to suffer to get those images.

Here is the link to see that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTXa1LIzej4

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

For Sale

If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).

IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes
Please don't forget that if you change your address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions, it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk

The distinctions we have on record are those shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell us we can't possibly know!

DO NOT REPLY TO THE NEWSLETTER.

Make Money For BPS Every Time You Shop On Amazon!
With the thought of on-line shopping still looming large in many members' minds. It's worth remembering that if you so wish, each and every one of you can support BPS with every purchase you make on Amazon by using Amazon Smile. Click on the link below – then it’s self-explanatory.
Shopping using Smile is no different to your normal Amazon shopping and costs you nothing, it's just that you need to tell it that you wish to use Smile and then we get some pennies!
