VIDEO FOR MIDIAN'S "BITTER" PREMIERES ON VH1
SINGER ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF HER SELF-TITLED EP

The Los Angeles based vocal powerhouse, Midian, is thrilled to announce the release of her self-titled EP, featuring the surprise break out smash "Bitter." "Bitter" was initially introduced to the world through a 15 second placement on the VH1 TV show Love and Hip Hop Altanta. The placement set off a storm of social media activity that catapulted the song to #6 on the iTunes R&B chart and #1 on Amazon's R&B chart. It garnered over 350,000 streams on YouTube and prompted numerous cover videos from fans.

In response to the success of the track, and to satiate fans' demands for more music, Midian entered the studio to record a live video of "Bitter" that can be viewed exclusively HERE at VH1.com. Captured in one take, the song showcases Midian's strength and raw vocal talent. Midian's voice is massive; the kind of voice that makes the hairs on your arms stand at attention and swallows you up whole. In it you can hear the soulful stylings of the late Etta James and the outsize "wow factor" of contemporary artists like Christina Aguilera.

Growing up outside the nation's capitol, Midian never set out to be a singer. As a young girl she would sing for fun, escaping to her bedroom and letting her voice run free, pretending she was Lauryn Hill one minute and Aretha Franklin the next. Midian's mother always told her she had the voice of an angel, but Midian figured that's just what moms do. Midian didn't start to believe her mother until she found herself upstaging a professionally trained singer at a recording studio. It was from that point on that she started to voraciously pursue music, becoming a self-proclaimed studio rat.

Midian is a breath of fresh air in the world of pop music. She has always had a very clear vision of the type of artist that she is, and instead of transforming herself into a glossy pop act, as encouraged by several major labels, she decided to forge her own path and stay true to the type of music she wants to make. "We garnered over a quarter-of-a-million hits on YouTube in less than a month. To me that says more than any amount of money could buy. I'm so thankful that people appreciate good music still. Because I'm not Rihanna. And I'll never be Rihanna. And I've always been OK with that," says Midian.

Midian has put a large amount of time and energy into crafting a cohesive body of work for her self-titled EP that truly represents who she is as an artist. "I want to take my time with my work," she says. "That's something that's really important to me and something that I feel like we're lacking in 2012: the artist that really focuses on the integrity of the music and makes a cohesive project that makes sense."

Midian's self-titled EP is set for release on January 8th. Several pre-order packages will soon be available for purchase. For more information, visit http://midianmusic.com.
