Island Golf Buggies

Drivers' Responsibilities

With school holidays, Christmas parties and the summer influx of visitors to the Island, ALL buggy owners and drivers need to be reminded of the responsibility they have either when behind the wheel or to who they give the key.

Buggies should NOT to be driven by under-age non-licensed drivers, especially with young passengers on board. The consequences of and legal ramifications of a child behind the wheel makes the parents also liable if there is an accident.

Buggies are NOT for joyriding or doing wheelies in Catherine Park.

Riding on the back step is NOT advisable. Buggies are unstable vehicles and our roads are hazardous to say the least. Better to make two safe trips than dangerous one.

With Northern Beaches Council putting the issue of conditional licensing on the backburner, please don’t provide any reason for our buggies to be BANNED because of reckless behavior or the more alarming occurrence of a serious accident.

Several children have been sighted driving these vehicles. We need to have a debate about this subject and come up with guidelines for ALL to abide by.

Goodwill Christmas Lunch

43 people enjoyed our Christmas lunch this year, including some new comers to the Island. What a way to welcome them !

Nathalie and her small crew of helpers created yet another wonderful feast, with stuffed tomatoes, turkey, ham, potato bake,  green vegetables, carrots, an amazing spiced vegetarian roll, Christmas cake ice cream and Christmas cake with brandy butter. More than enough for second and third helpings for some, and take away for quite a few too.

XMAS lunch 1

A huge thank you to the many contributors, including all the people at the lunch, who helped make this our most successful Christmas lunch yet. Special mention has to go to the following for their generous contributions; Lexie Le Blang , Joe Smith, Sally Wandless, Brian & Julie Rogers, Leslie Stevenson and the Christmas cake competition bakers, Penny Gleen ( Church Point Ferry Service ), Georgina and Peter Lalor, Fran and Alex and last but not least Stew Hassel for always being available to help no matter what.

We had a ball !

The Co-Op Club Presents

January 2018 Bookings

Church Point Cafe -  Artists play between 3:30 - 6:30pm

Sun Jan 7: Rob Woolf Trio : RW

Rob Woolf Trio have collectively played with a who’s who of Australian talent from Diesel to Karise Eden, from hop hop artist Phrase, to Luke Steele, Silverchair, Ruby Roots, Guy Sebastian, The Tamborine Girls, Tim Finn and more. They have backed the Jamaican Rocksteady great, Stranger Cole, dancehall originator Johnny Osbourne, the US blues legend Eugene Bridges and are also members of the best loved reggae outfits King Tide and The Strides.

But it is within a quieter bare bones approach as a trio that they can simply relax and remind themselves of all the music that they cherish from New Orleans, blues and soul from Memphis and Chicago. The band features Rob Woolf on keyboards and vocals, Carlos Adura on drums and Rowan Lane on bass and is in my opinion an afternoon not to be missed.
..

Sun Jan 14: Lloyd G & the Ambassadors : LG

Sun Jan 14: Lloyd G & the Ambassadors draw their repertoire from earliest blues to 50’s, 60’s rock n roll (think Chuck Berry) to current day Robert Plant’s Band of Joy and his Raising Sand album, to JD McPherson. They are driven by the music that shaped great bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, their words, stories and melodies that take you into another world, and they are motivated to play it by the audience’s reaction to good music and the sense of honour they feel in creating the grooves that bring joy.

Sun Jan 21: Rebecca Johnson Band :
RJ

Sun Jan 21: Rebecca Johnson Band are back to give us another dose of their fabulous soul, funk & pop classics. Rebecca and her band have won the hearts of our regulars at the Co-Op Club who are in awe of her great bass playing accompanied by her husband Con Settineri on the drums and guitar player James Vertley ripping it up time after time. Definitely book for this one!

Sun Jan 28 : Backsliders : BKSLS$30 and booking are essential

Backsliders are back! Tix are $30 and booking are essential. Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil on drums, Dom Turner on guitar and harmonica player Joe Glover. Do not miss this exciting start to 2018 and book your tickets now by emailing functions@waterfrontstore.com.au or call 99796633 to book your tickets. Hurry as these guys always sell out.
