Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
FOR THE LOVE OF FELLOWSHIP: A UNION WITH UNITY
Where were you on this day eight years ago? I was going from one class to another in my early days of college when I heard the report of the attack in New York. These reminders of a national tragedy further remind us that we live in a very sinful world with our fellow human beings. Throughout the course of time mankind as a union of human beings certainly have not dwelt together on this earth in unity or harmony. On a daily basis we see the effects of sin throughout our world in the wars and political disunity.
In our home life, is it a different picture? How good and how pleasant is a marital union without unity? Whether it is in matters of faith or in the raising of children, or in the handling of money, so many families today are falling apart because they lack this critical element.
In our faith life--our relationship with both God and mankind--how good and how pleasant is the Christian union we have with fellow believers if there is no unity in the word of our Lord, or in our service to Him?
When our Lord uses the word "behold," He calls special attention to the point He is making. In a world of disunity our Lord calms all our fears through the message of His word and through His word alone.
Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10, 11).
No matter what the circumstance or situation, the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are the critical element for a union with unity!
