THE CREATIVE COMPETITION - BOB FARIS TROPHY

Wednesday, 25 June is the closing date for the Creative Competition. Barry Mead will be judging, and it will be good to have a big, healthy entry: composites, ICMs, multiple exposures, sinister penguins (other creatures are eligible) … all welcome.

The competition rules are shown here:
For this competition, a submitted image must have originated as a photographic image or images, produced either in camera or by post processing. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. Artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated so long as the original photographic content predominates. Digital skills should be seen as the tools to compose photographic images into one new single image. The final composition will show the photographer’s artistic interpretation.
  1. This is an Open competition, with no levels of entry.
  2. Images may have been entered into any previous club competition, except for previous Creative competitions and may be entered into any subsequent bi-monthly or annual competition, except for subsequent Creative competitions.
  3. Each entrant may submit up to four images. These may be all PDI, all Print or any combination of the two.
  4. The judge will select a Best PDI, a Best Print and award the Bob Faris trophy to one of these two.
  5. The trophy winner will not be eligible to enter the next year’s Creative competition.

If you are entering prints for this competition, don’t forget to upload PDIs of your prints using this link: www.bristolphoto.org.uk/printsupload

If you have any questions or problems, please contact the relevant Competition Secretary.

AWARDS FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC MERIT
ONLINE ADVISORY WORKSHOP

Would you like to participate in an Online Workshop with your PDI and Prints being assessed and discussed by a group of PAGB Adjudicators? We have pencilled in a date in September which would require you to upload your image files to our Central Management System (CMS) and post prints to us in early August.

There will be quite a lot to manage, and we would really appreciate an early expression of interest to determine if the idea is worthwhile.  If you would like us to look at your work, please provide your name, e-mail and answers to the following questions. Please e-mail to awards@thepagb.org.uk by early July, if possible, so that we can review the viability of running such a workshop.
  1. What level are you interested in? (BPAGB CPAGB DPAGB EPAGB or MPAGB)
  2. Do you hope to apply for Adjudication in 2025 or 2026?
  3. If you are intending to apply soon, do you want a full potential entry reviewed, or do you want to submit just a few images to determine which level you might be at?
  4. Will you wish to be advised on a potential PDI or a Print entry?
  5. Are you prepared to pay £10 to be advised or £5 to observe?”
