1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
WITNESSING CHRIST: BE READY
With football season just underway, after a given team has earned a victory, you may hear TV commentators say, "That team was really well-prepared; they really came out ready to play today."
Being prepared helps when it comes to many things we do in this life. The more important the task, the more important the preparation becomes. Professional, college, and even high school football teams spend much time preparing for games, but certainly there are many more important things than football games. At the top of that list are matters pertaining to Jesus Christ and the message of forgiveness of sins and salvation that can only be found in Him.
What's the best way to be prepared to bring this message to the world? Arguably, the best way to be prepared to witness our faith is to simply know our Bibles. Often times, when we fail to witness Christ to the people around us, it is because we don't feel like we know what to say, but witnessing is really to say nothing else than that which God has already spoken to us in His Word. The better we know and understand the things that God says in His Word, the better we will be able to speak these things to those around us.
We want to know our Bibles better and better every day of our lives. By doing so, we are preparing ourselves to pass this important information along to others when given the chance. However, no matter who we are, or what stage we are at in our Bible understanding, we can always look for ways to tell others that simple, gospel message that every Christian knows and believes in his heart; namely, that Jesus has died for us, has taken away our sins, and that whoever believes in Him will not be condemned, but will have eternal life.
