NEWS FOR CAT LOVERS
===================================

Thanks to Jean for sending this story recently.
It came in just one day too late to put into the
last issue of the newsletter, so I offer it now.
It's worth reading so you may be able to help your
cat avoid the all too common and dreaded kidney disease
that cuts too many kitties' lives short:

Do you like to write about your kitties? I'm finally writing
my next book, but I need some help. Here's a chance to get
your story published and possibly make some money at it, too!

CAT FOOD NEWS
===================================

Last issue I told you about my latest petfood disaster.
I ordered a product called Meow Organic on June 8 and
only received 1/3 of the order, and even that took 3 weeks
to send.

Now, with August almost over, I still have not received
the rest of it. Unfortunately, the company won't refund
the undelivered portion of my order, and they feel it's
my fault because I should have read the fine print on
their web site saying I should have bought delivery
insurance. (A little legal escape hatch there so they
don't have to care about giving good service?)

So, just a warning to stay away from Pugzbrand.com.
Not one of the animals here likes it anyway and they refuse
to eat it. The food is probably safe and healthy, but obviously
not tasty. The service from the company is distasteful, too.

Help Feed Shelter Animals

Don't forget to visit these sites as often as you can and
click on the shelter-feed links. There is no cost to you
to do this, but it can only be done once per day.

You can sign up for their daily reminders, too, if you need
a little nudge, like I do.

There have been more petfood recalls, too.
Thanks to Pam for this new info.

PRODUCTS FOR PETS
===================================

Thanks to Paul for bringing this to my attention:

It seems not everyone is satisfied with the products by
CedarCide that I mentioned this summer.

We still successfully use a spray called Best Yet to
control pests, such as ticks and flies, and have found it
effective against wasps and moths, as well as some disgusting
black beetles we have during the summer. I think if we had
fleas here, it would help with that, too. But we just don't
have them.

Here is a web site with complaints about the product:

http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/6323/

Paul mentioned that some pets have been reported to have
gotten sick from the spray, but I could not find any info
on that...only that it didn't kill insects as promised.
So be careful. I'd suggest not spraying the product all over
the animal since cats, especially, will lick it off. As bad
as it smells, it might make ME sick if I ingested any!

One minor complaint I saw was that the CedarCide website
is hard to read and navigate. So I found one that not only
offers a clearer, easier experience, but the prices are a
bit lower, too:

WEBSITES FOR CAT LOVERS
===================================

If you ever need to advertise a lost or found pet, or
promote one for adoption, this is a great site to use
to create nice-looking flyers:

http://petbond.com/flyerentry.php

Be sure to visit their adoption pages, too. In fact,
they also have a free service that allows people to
list their adoptable pets on their site.

TAKE ACTION TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED
===================================
How to help animals:

1. http://www.hipaws.com/help.html
Help feed the ones that never got adopted.

2. Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals. That said, there is one large
sanctuary I do endorse: www.deltarescue.org.
