Tropicalfete, the official home for Caribbean
culture, is ready to give you an afternoon of good food and drinks as we
hold a BBQ fundraiser event on October 8, 2016, 3PM at 644 E 34th St.
Brooklyn NY, 11203 (between Avenue D & Foster Ave).
Proceeds from the barbecue will be used to support several of our
programs such as Musicians Mentoring Musicians, Masquerade Center,
Authors Connecting program, Body of Vibration and a lot more! This is in
accordance with our aim to develop the community in the areas of arts
and social services, particularly with the Caribbean culture. We believe
that every dollar you raise will have a powerful impact on the lives of
the people as we promote the existing culture which, not only reminds
us how people have shaped our society and landscape over time, but also
preserve our cultural identity and sense of place.

Tropicalfete ended the summer on a high note
with four days of vibrant Carnival activities. Thanks to everyone who
participated and support us to make the summer amazing success – Masqueraders,
the parents, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, MFTA, De Island
Restaurant, NYPD, Caitlyn, Octava, Baby Ashley, Claudia, Tammie and her Crew,
Keiza, DJs Kevin, Nicky, Mad Stef, Book, Marcelle, Richard, Gillia, Daria, Big
Ashley, Mr. Gibbs, Big A, Ingrid, Fimber, Trini and her crew and Ayi.
Tropicalfete Board says thank you. We miss
Alson, Dez, and Amanda who were on military duty and to the masqueraders who
went to college that time. You may have missed it but we absolutely felt your
sprit during the carnival. Our Tropicalfete family got extended as we made a lot more of new friends. Our presentation ‘Carnival Royalty’ celebrated life and we
acclaimed our carnival culture as one Caribbean family. Everyone left happy and
satisfied!
Our
summer was super busy and fun. We played games, did rock climbing, tug of war,
BBQ, and did numerous events. It was a rewarding experience to have the young
kids interact with the seniors and giving the kids an opportunity to do their
own costumes. We will definitely continue with this formula. Thanks to City Council
Member Darlene Mealy, Senator Roxanne
Persaud, Citizen Committee, New York Public Library, Lott, WIACDA,
Tobago Committee, Heatwave, New York City Parks Department and Borough
President of Brooklyn Eric Adams for giving us a platform to expose our craft.
