NEWS FOR CAT LOVERS
===================================
A 13-year-old boy in Africa invented a clever way to
keep lions from killing his family's cattle. And he
did it without hurting anyone! The traditional methods
involve killing them, but there are always more, so it's
not a real solution. His method has gained him some fame
and a scholarship to college when the time comes.

For people willing to make the effort, there are some new allergy
treatments that make it possible for animal lovers to have pets!

Here is an example of some of the cat-hating hype going around
on the Internet lately:

owners.aspx
Here is a quote from Dr. Mercola, a renowned natural health expert:
"I have enormous respect for the scientific method, and I believe, when
properly applied, it can provide us with profound and valid truths that can
guide and direct our treatment strategies.
But what many people fail to appreciate is that much of the research published
has been deeply influenced and severely tainted by tremendous conflicts of
interest and profit-driven motives."
Now, what does that have to do with cats? He was not referring to cats.
However, I chose to share the quote because it succinctly explains how
flawed studies make it into mainstream thinking (without thinking), and
results in unfair and unnessary handling of a situation that needs a fair
and humane approach.

With all the negative attention on cats in the news
lately, I wanted to share this web site with you so
you can show it to others who need to learn that "cat

TAKE ACTION TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED
===================================
How to help the animals:
1. http://www.hipaws.com/help.html
Help feed the ones that never got adopted.
2. Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals.
3. Buy my book if you haven't yet. Sales are used to
support all the cats here. Thank you.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/1480292559
4. This is a sad story and there doesn't appear to
be anything we can do about it. However, it does
point to the fact that we need to keep our local
animal facilities accountable for their actions.

5. I won't list all the gruesome stories coming
out of the research programs going on at the
University of Madison-Wisconsin right now, but I can
tell you they are so horrific, I can't even read them
all the way through. So far, I have not seen any petitions
to sign against them, but if you want to do anything, you
might get them to look at a letter if you have time
to write to them.
All I've seen so far are requests from PETA to address
this problem by donating to them.
