1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
WITNESS: YOU
Though Jesus doesn't mention us by name in John 5, you and I are witnesses too. We are blessed to be able to draw upon each of the four examples that Jesus gave to the Jews as we use the Word of God in our lives. But without someone to bring that word to us, we would be lost. Each of us has relied upon someone in our lives to share God's Word with us. Without faithful witnesses like family members, pastors and teachers, the message of God's Word could easily go unnoticed in the world.
It's important that you ask yourself how you can serve as a witness to Christ. Could you talk to a friend? Could you teach Sunday school? Could you mentor a younger Christian? Could you speak up when Christ's name is dishonored? There's no shortage of opportunities to witness about Jesus. You can certainly use the very witnesses that Jesus listed as evidence, but there are plenty of other things you could point to as well.
All of God's Word is meant to make us "wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." As a believer, you have a special calling to show that throughout your life. May God guide and lead you to use your time, talents, and knowledge of His Word to be a witness to His glory and honor!
