Luke 2:10-11 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."

GOD GIVES THE VICTORY

As you and I have revisited a few familiar events from the Old Testament, these events are written for our learning. In the area of our earthly life as children of the Lord God, He bids us go and fight the battles we call life. We go, and He goes with us, giving us the victory. And through those victories which God gives we learn to trust Him more and more.

While this is true in earthly things, when it comes to our souls salvation, and faith and eternal life, there God says, "Be still!" "Be still, I will do it. Be still, I will save." "Be still, I will take care of your enemy." "Be still, I will give you faith." "Be still I will give you forgiveness of sins and eternal life."

The Lord did not say, "Take 300 and surround Satan's army." The Lord did not say, "March around Satan's stronghold for seven days. The Lord God said, "For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." God the Father sent His only begotten Son into the world. He alone defeated sin, death and Satan. Jesus slew the devil -- by His righteousness, His own death on the cross, His resurrection and ascension. While you and I slept in future generations, the Lord Jesus routed the Devil and all his hosts. We woke up to victory through our Lord Jesus Christ, and will again wake up to eternal victory and eternal life in heaven.

This God in Christ has done. To Him be the glory, the honor, the praise, and the thanks.
