THE GREEN GRASS
The green grass -- something to remember on a warm summer day.
It is a good thing to occasionally stop and "smell the roses." We lead such busy lives, few are the moments to stop and appreciate the little things. So today find a park and sit on a lawn chair and appreciate the green grass.
Green grass isn't only nice to look at and comfortable on bare feet, it is testimony to the goodness of our Creator. Grass needs regular rain to stay green and lush (as those who live in the Dakotas know well). Yes and that's what our gracious God sends -- early and latter rain. When the thunder claps and the lightning forks across the sky and the rain falls upon the earth, our creator bears witness to His kindness.
So the Apostle Paul said to the people of Lystra (Acts 14:17):
"Nevertheless He [the True God] did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."
The LORD God doesn't only show His kindness in sending rain. He showed the entire human race His loving heart when He sent His Son to live, die and rise to reconcile us to Himself. So maybe today would be a good day to point out the kindness of our Creator and Redeemer to someone you know!
