Proverbs 30:24 Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise:
SMALL YET EXTREMELY WISE
When we look at creation, it reminds us of the Creator. Psalm 19 expresses this saying: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge." Again in Psalm 8 we find: "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place . . ." The hand of the LORD is seen in all that He has made.
Even in the smallest details of creation we can see the design and intelligence of our God. In fact, perhaps it is in those smallest details that we find the most striking examples of His engineering and imagination.
In Proverbs 30:24ff we are told about four small animals. They are rather insignificant members (to us) of God's creation, yet when we look at the lives and habits of these creatures, there are some important Biblical truths that are brought to mind. The writer of this chapter of Scripture, inspired by God, points to the ant, coney, locust, and lizard to instruct and enlighten us.
Now we have all had teachers, but these may well be some of the most unusual teachers we have had. As they each go to the head of the class in turn, you may indeed learn why the Bible says they are "small, yet they are extremely wise."
