WORKING FOR THOSE IN AUTHORITY
It is perhaps easy to motivate ourselves to work because we see the benefits. A job well done is satisfying. A job well done enables us to buy stuff. A job well done enables me to stop off at Dairy Queen now and then!
We often grumble loudest when it comes time to pay our taxes. It is plain from the words of Jesus our Savior that it is God's will that we pay our taxes. While we may complain about the "rampant misuse of tax monies by the government" we should also see the benefits that trickle down to us (no pun intended).
Our borders are secure. We don't worry every day that there will be a coup and people shooting up the streets with automatic weapons. There is order in our society. If someone starts shooting at your house, you can call the police. If your "recreational fire" in the back yard spreads to the house, you can call the fire department. These things are the case because of the taxes we so hate to pay.
But it's so much money! Feel free to speak to your elected officials in government. Then remember, what we pay in taxes is nothing when compared the price paid to unshackle us from sin, from death, and the power of the devil. We couldn't pay that debt. Christ did, that we might have life eternal. This world isn't our focus and goal.
