1 John 2:23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either, he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
SON OF THE FATHER
I heard a scary story the other day. A mom went grocery shopping with her toddler. As they shopped, the little boy played with her car keys. Jingle, jingle, jingle. No big deal. When they came out to the car, she bucked him in first, closed the door, and headed around to open the back.
That was when his little finger found the lock button ... and he still had the car keys clutched in his other hand!
It was a hot day, and mom knew that could be very dangerous. A sealed up car gets real hot, real fast. In fact, if the sun is intense it can kill a baby. How scary is that!
Thankfully, the mom called 911 right away and got help. The police came, jimmied the door, and got the little guy out before the car heated up too much.
Keys are pretty important when it comes to cars. If you don't have the key, the car is pretty much worthless to you. But if you have the key, you have the car.
The Bible says God the Son and God the Father go together like a key and a car. Sinners like us can only be friends with the Father if we're friends with the Son.
Some people think that they can know who God is and be friends with him without Jesus. But that's not what God says. God says that unless we trust in Jesus as our Savior, we can't live with him in heaven.
Thankfully, God's Word tells us all about God the Son. It tells us that after Adam and Eve sinned, God promised his Son would appear one day to take our sins away. God's Word tells us that God's Son was born in Bethlehem, suffered and died on Calvary, and rose from the tomb on Easter morning. We know Jesus because of the Bible. We trust in him as the key to forgiveness. Because of Jesus, we have God as our heavenly Father.
