Urban Tellers is Portland Story Theater's newest (and wildly popular!) ongoing series, showcasing the work of participants in our Personal Narrative workshops.

The Urban Tellers show happening this Friday, December 10th, is sold out, but do not abandon all hope just yet! We can't put any more names on the reservation list, but if you want to take your chances, come on down to Hipbone Studio by 7:30 this Friday night and we will put your name on a waiting list; then, if there are any last-minute cancellations or no-shows, we will do our best to fit you in on a first-come, first-served basis.

We can't guarantee you a place, of course, but we will say that at the last few shows, everyone who got on the waiting list and stuck it out till showtime did get to come in and see the show.

Dear friends and fans of Portland Story Theater,

Polar Opposites is the third installment in Portland Story Theater's popular Armchair Adventurer series, following Shackleton's Antarctic Nightmare" and "Mawson's Mettle: Alone On The Wide Shores Of The World."

With  any luck, we will have Shackleton and Mawson available for purchase on audio CD at the Polar Opposites show.

Polar Opposites recounts the heroic and tragic events that played out on the frozen continent one hundred years ago, as Norway's Roald Amundsen and Britain's Robert Falcon Scott vied for primacy at the Pole. Portland Story Theater's Lawrence Howard has been researching and creating this story for several years. It's an epic tale of ambition and folly, heroism and tragedy; a tale of courage and sacrifice and suffering. It's about a glorious achievement overshadowed by an even more glorious failure.
