We have another mini-assembly today during Success Class. Our PBIS team likes to recognize all of the athletes and club participants in fun ways during the assembly. I think the wrestling recognition will be something you'll be able to discuss with your child tonight (it will be funny!).

Every few years, we see amateur tattoo artists try to build their skills with fellow students. For as little as $4.00, you can buy a "Stick and Poke Tattoo Kit" from Amazon. As adults, we know that tattoos are a lifelong decision. Many of our teens don't understand that. You may want to discuss your expectations surrounding "amateur tattoos" and their associated risks beyond future regret: infection and bloodborne pathogens, to name a few. Of course, if we see that occurring at school, there are school consequences, but after asking a few students about this, I understand that these things occur after school hours.

A thought on the MSU school shooting: That campus had over 25,000 students on it that night. The loss of life is tragic and cannot be minimized. Nearly every student knew exactly what to do or had somebody able to tell them what to do to reach safety. Colleges rarely perform safety drills. That knowledge came from the safety work we do in K-12 schools. I'm thankful that so many reached safety so quickly. Please encourage your child to take our safety drills seriously. Unfortunately, in the world we live in, you never know when it is going to be needed.

Parent-Teacher conferences are next week on Tuesday (in-person) and Thursday (by phone conference). We'd love to work with you!

Be Well,
Scott Sherman
