June 29, 2020

The Mississippi Native Plant Society is the newest Native Plant Conservation Campaign Affiliate. The MsNPS serves as a statewide hub for native ecosystem and plant education and conservation with an aim to create a cohesive and inclusive community for all plant lovers. The MsNPS is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

MsNPS promotes native plants through a series of year-round field trips, an annual meeting that celebrates all aspects of native plant appreciation (gardening and landscaping, art, policy, etc.), research, and conservation, a newsletter, and an active social media presence. They also offer information on sources of locally appropriate native plants

Recent events include:
Establishment of partnerships with the Mississippi Plant Conservation Alliance and regional plant conservation organizations
Public education and outreach at such events as Pollinator Day (MS Science Museum), regional native plants sales (Crosby Arboretum), and Gardening Day and Seed Swap
Membership survey to assess organizational interests and capacity
