Hello, Firstname

Wednesday 25 November

Next Wednesday, 25 November, is Round 2 of the Projected Image Competition. This is being judged by Rob Ryan ARPS FRSA.

Rob is an international educator who has spent many years exploring the way we make decisions and judgements. He is, currently, Professor Emeritus at the University of Gloucestershire and Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Manchester Business School.
He is passionate about different forms of photography and has developed robust methods of learning how to both create great images and how to assess them. John Fishback, Director of Education Services for the Photographic Society of America, commented that Bob is “in the top 10% of imaging analysts”.
The talk starts at 19:30hrs but will be open from 19:15hrs.

WCPF - Kingswood Salver - Didn't We Do Well!
If you missed the judging on Saturday via Zoom, where were you? The judge, Leigh Woolford, did an excellent job of assessing the panels – 25 in total. Our panel was one of the first few and received some great feedback with comments such as “very strong” and “quality of the panel was stand out”.

You’ve seen our panel previously and a number of people commented that it looked very strong.  Seems the judge agreed, placing us in Joint Second behind the winners, “Torbay”.
But our success didn’t end there. Derwood Pamphilon’s Ballerina (top left) earned him an individual Commended, John Hudson’s image of Jake (top centre) was awarded a Highly Commended whilst bragging rights were stolen by Jeff Hargreaves with his image of Anna Rose (top right), securing him the Vivian Croucher Memorial Plate for the best overall single image. Sadly no individual awards for Mike Martin or Steve Field, but without their contributions there wouldn’t have been a panel – so congratulations to all.

You can see all the winning panels and images by visiting the WCPF website.

WCPF Members' Exhibition
The 2021 WCPF Members Exhibition (MX) is currently being finalised and the entry system will be available in January 2021.  Previous entrants will receive an ‘invitation to enter’ email, and a link to the entry system will be available from the WCPF websites MX page once it is open.
·         Timings
Entry will be open from Monday 4th January 2021 and will close on Saturday 6th March 2021.
·         Terms and Conditions
The entry classes are restricted to 4 PDI classes (Open, Nature, Creative, Photo Travel) due to social distancing restrictions. If it becomes possible to judge prints, the 2020 print entry will be used. The class definitions will be available on the entry website.
·         Carry-over from the 2020 Entry
As the 2020 exhibition did not take place, by default all entries and entry fees will be carried forward to the 2021 exhibition. Once the entry system opens, entries in the PDI classes can be changed with no further entry fee. Additional PDI images and/or classes can be entered with the payment of the appropriate entry fee.
·         Awards
The exhibition has PAGB Patronage and PAGB Gold, Silver and Bronze medals plus Selector Ribbons will be awarded in each class.  Highly commended certificates  will also be awarded in each class.
The ‘Margaret Aven’ trophy for the entrant who gains the most acceptances across all 4 (7) classes, and ‘Best Wildlife’ trophy in the Nature classe(s) will also be awarded again this year.
·         Exhibition Venue
Due to social distancing regulations there is no current plan to hold a physical exhibition. If one becomes possible we will work with potential venues (such as Bovey Tracy Golf Club) at a later date.
·         Favourite Image and Sale Of Prints
If a physical exhibition becomes possible we will repeat these initiatives and the conditions will be as last year i.e. entrants will have 3 choices
1.     To opt in to the favourite print image lottery where one of the visitors that voted will receive a free copy of the print that they voted for.
2.     To opt in to the visitors favourite print image lottery and the sale of prints.  Prints will be offered for sale at a standard price of £35.  Any postage fees required would be an extra cost.
3.     To opt out of both initiatives:
·         Selectors
  Richard Spiers DPAGB APGAB BPE2
Mike Sharples MPAGB ARPS EFIAP ABPE
David Gibbins ARPS APAGB EFIAP/g BPE5

We hope that members of WCPF clubs will continue to support the exhibition and submit their entries in good time.

If anything is unclear or there are any questions then please get in touch with the Exhibition Secretary by email at mpix.wcpf@gmail.com
