PRESS CONFERENCE TO LAUNCH NEW NATIONAL FAMILY UNITY CAMPAIGN

***Prominent Business Owner and Loving Father Can be Deported Next Week***

Phoenix, AZ – This week, coinciding with President Obama’s inauguration, hundreds of DREAMers across the country will participate in nearly two dozen rallies, vigils, and other events calling for immigration reform that protects families, DREAMers, and workers. Dreamers and families will hold events and actions in Arizona, Texas, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, California, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Kentucky and New York as part of the Inauguration Week of Action.

As part of the launch, the Arizona Dream Act Coalition will hold a press conference to start a campaign to stop the deportation of Vasant Sambraya Shetty. Vasant  immigrated to the U.S. in 1998 from India and has lived in the U.S. for 15 years. In those years he has managed a hotel, worked for a religious institute and opened up two motels of his own. Vasant’s business, which he manages with his wife, brings much needed jobs to Seligman, Arizona where the community suffers from high unemployment rates.

For years now Vasant and his family have lived the American dream. Vasant has no criminal history, contributes to the community, has good moral character and has managed to raise a beautiful family. He has two sons, both DREAMers whom have been able to finish a college career. He came to U.S. without anything that he started from scratch and has been very lucky to prosper. He beliefs in the goodness of America and ask that our community helps his family to stay together.
