The Fourth Choir Practice
Ear witness
account from Gillian Croft
You do realise we are becoming a legend - even before we've
performed.
Who among you has not been bombarded with requests to
visit certain jetties at a specific time next Tuesday, less
requests
than demands accompanied by sob stories of "we don't have (read
can't
afford) a tinny" or "my granddaughter (the prettiest granddaughter
in
the world, goes without saying) won't go to sleep until she's
heard
you sing Silent Night in German - we live at the top of the
island,
can you come up - specially for her?"
Bob did a great job last week, by the time we began to realise
he
might be a soft touch he was out of there!
Did you notice him last night sitting on a comfy sofa with a beatific
smile on his face, cuddling his dog, a glass within clutching
distance?
No fool he.
And as for John, rumour had it he was conducting a choir elsewhere last
week.
The truth of the matter is he booked into a very
expensive health farm and received intensive treatment for
choir fatigue.
Well, I don't need to tell you it worked!
I have never heard anyone change keys so quickly and effortlessly, he
was sublime.
Even rejected the offer of a mike, tossed it aside with
disdain and
proceeded to dominate us with the sheer weight of his ego - no
sorry
his expertise (typo).
Prizes for the following:
a name for the choir - can't be obscene, not too obscene that is.
What people will say AFTER we've done our dash, no more than
60,000
words.
Message for next Tuesday, if you can't fall in and keep singing don't
come.
Tonight
at
Frog Hollow at 7:30pm
then on to
Church Point around 8:30pm!!
