Hebrews 11:22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions about his bones.

FINAL VICTORY IN THE CHRISTIAN'S LIFE

How certain are you of your future? Joseph lived most of his 110 years in Egypt, but he knew that his family's homeland was up in Canaan. Would his family ever return there? Joseph was sure they would. So sure, in fact, that when he died he gave instructions for his family not to bury him in Egypt but to take his body back to Canaan and bury him there.

You see, Joseph trusted that the Israelites would eventually return to their homeland because God had promised it. (When it happened about 300 years later, Joseph's body was indeed returned to Canaan.)

God has promised a final resting place for us too--and for all Christians. An eternal home in heaven with Him. And we are just as certain of reaching that goal as Joseph was certain that his family would return to their homeland. We are certain because God has promised it. Promised it--and then sealed that promise by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It is sure and certain for us because He lives.

When we pray to the Lord, "Your will be done," we remember that this in the end is His greatest desire for us: the saving of our bodies and souls for all eternity. We will rise from the dead to everlasting life because God has promised it! Amen!
