May flowers are in full bloom and all of the colors are inspiring us to knit. If you know us, you know how much we love color and summer is the perfect time for color exploration- everything from learning to create your own color paths with dyes to experimenting with color combinations you have never before considered. We have added quite a few beautiful handdyed yarns to the shop including some inspired by the national parks (another favorite summertime activity of ours) and others inspired by some of our favorite summer foods so whether you are traveling this summer or stuck in town and want to pretend to take a trip, we have you covered.

We were so busy in May that we didn't get the newsletter out, so this one is chock full of all the new squishy goodness that has entered the shop lately. June is going to be a bit of a crazy month for us here as we prepare for the fall, but we really think you are going to love the things we have planned for the rest of 2019.

New In The Shop

First and foremost there is a new yarn from Malabrigo in the shop. Is Mecha too big, but Mechita too fine? Meet Washted, a worsted weight single ply superwash merino wool. Like Malabrigo's other worsted weight wools, it has 210 yards per 100g skein. We have 10 beautiful colors in the shop right now including two (Arcobaleno and Heriloom Vegetables) that are not available in any other base.

We have new colors of Feederbrook Farm's Entropy! This is one of our favorite yarns, it is made of BFL wool, the fiber is dyed prior to being spun which gives it the look of some hand spun yarn and since the fiber is dyed first the colors slowly shift one to the next. This yarn is super bouncy and squishy and each 100g skein has 260 yards of yarn and it knits up great on a size 6-8 needle. Sarah is getting ready to knit up The Shift (cowl) with it. It also works great with these patterns: Rhinebeck Hat, Crazy Magic Boomerang, Nandina (shawl), Duotone Cowl, Pioneer Braid Scarf or Inspira Cowl.

Since we didn't get to last month's newsletter, here are the Sassy Holiday colorways for May and June. May's is the pink one called 5 cents for Lemonade Day (May 5th) and June's is called ShannaJean for Best Friends' Day (June 8th.) We love the way these two colorways look together, there might be a two color shawl in our future!!

Knitted Wit has a fabulous series of colorways inspired by the National Parks. They are releasing 16 new colorways this Summer (4 per month starting in May) in their Sock yarn. The first four colorways (Haleakala, Channel Islands, Wrangell-St. Elias and North Cascades) are all fantastic and we can't wait to see what the next four look like. If you need sock patterns check out Shannon Squires' Designs here.

For those of you who love self-striping sock yarn, we have just what you need! A fresh shipment from Art Yarns by Abi, with a re-stock of some of your favorites (watermelon, sock monkey, grainbow and rainbow cake) plus two new colorways, Strawberry and Urban Hippie Stripe. The strawberry looks good enough to eat!

If that's not enough for you, we also have some fresh stock fom Rock and String Creations, all in the matchy-matchy skeins for those of you who like perfectly matching socks! Dyed right here in Kentucky, we have some classic rainbow, neon rainbow as well as colorways like Rebel Child and Meow! Erin's colorways never disappoint!!
