GPS is pleased to announce the signing of Los Angeles based producer, mixer, programmer, DJ, remixer and recording artist Carmen Rizzo. The two-time Grammy nominee has worked with Seal, Coldplay, Paul Oakenfold, Alanis Morissette, Dido, Jem, Niyaz, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Khaled, Tiesto, BT, Esthero, A.R. Rahman and Pete Townshend. Rizzo's discography is an eclectic read, and has earned him a reputation as "the go-to producer for artists who want to push the creative envelope" Avid.
Spanning a record-making career of nearly two decades, Rizzo has made music with the likes of famed record producers Trevor Horn, David Foster, Marius De Vries and Rob Cavallo. In addition to collaborating with Tuvan throat singers Huun Huur Tu (dubbed "a milestone recording in Tuvan musical tradition" BC Blog Critis, and "one of those rare projects where different cultures beautifully collide" Global Noize), Rizzo also co-founded the groundbreaking world/electronic act Niyaz (with three #1 iTunes albums), and contributed original music to the David Lynch Foundation album alongside Moby and Peter Gabriel. Rizzo has released his own solo electronic albums: Lost Art of the Idle Moment and The Space Left Behind. His music can also be heard in numerous movies and hit TV shows from CSI Miami to True Blood.
As member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Rizzo served on the board of Governors & Trustees (Grammy) and is on the Producer & Engineering Advisory Board. Rizzo was largely responsible for introducing the category of 'Best Electronic Album'. On September 23rd Rizzo will be the special guest for the Animal Collective with Flying Lotus and Huun Huur Tu concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Carmen Rizzo's selected discography can be found attached.
