Hello Firstname

Wednesday 15 January
We welcome James Osmond who is a local professional landscape photographer. James will be presenting his talk entitled "Wild West Country". According to James' website this promises to be a guide to some of the best places for photography in the Southwest. To find out more about James, visit his website at www.jamesosmond.co.uk

DI Group
The first DI meeting of the new year will be next Monday, 13 January. As usual all are welcome, especially if you are bring along pictures (prints or projected) for us to see and talk about. The meeting is an informal affair which starts at 7.30pm and as usual the highlight of the evening will be Ashwin's chocolate hobnobs!

Projected Image Competition - Round 3

Wednesday is also the closing date for Round 3 of the Projected Image Competition, the judge is  John Gould. Entries to Jeff Hargreaves at competitions@bristolphoto.org.uk. Jeff will be happy to answer any queries you may have, using the above email address.

Projection Screen

Those of you who have attended the last few meetings will have noticed that we have been using the projection screen in the corner of the clubroom instead of the usual centre screen. This is the screen position which was always used before the advent of digital and before we started to use the digital projector. We thought it would be a worthwhile exercise to try the corner position for few weeks and then to see which of the two positions members preferred. I know that one or two members felt that the corner position put the screen too close to their usual seats, but it would be helpful if you would email me at newsletter@bristolphoto.org.uk to let me know your thoughts. We are particularly interested to find out, not what you think is best for where you sit, but more what you think would be best for the club audience as a whole.

Ashwin Chauhan recently had an acceptance in the RPS DIG DPIC competition. The image, called "Fry Up" is shown below.

Another club success in the same competition was Mike Bews with his image "They've sold our home".

If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
