“The healthcare industry in Germany – the opportunities and challenges“,
with Anton J. Schmidt, chairman of the board of P.E.G. - einfach besser (for BVBG)
Description in brief
There are several major trends influencing the healthcare industry. Progress in medicine and medical technology, demographic trends and increased expectations have resulted in increased public demand, but the financial resources available are limited. This challenge is made even greater by a lack of qualified doctors and in particular nursing staff. Therefore it is of the utmost importance to develop ethical and economic solutions to ensure that in the future patients in Germany can continue to be treated according to the highest healthcare standards.

3.30 – 4.15 p.m.
“30 seconds for our health. 10 important points concerning hand hygiene“,
with Sabine R. Mück, cleaning and hygiene management specialist (FIGR), Hygiene Consult HyCo Mück (for Berufsverband Hauswirtschaft)
Description in brief
Do viruses not affect external service providers? If I wear gloves do I still need a hand disinfectant? Protecting one’s health and hygiene are important topics in the home economics and building cleaning industries. Mistakes or a lack of knowledge where hand hygiene is concerned can easily cause bacterial infection and time lost through employees off work. For this reason hand hygiene is fundamental to every hygiene concept.

4.15 – 5.00 p.m.
“Legionella: a deadly attack from the shower head? A look at preventive measures“,
with FD Jens Schneider, hygiene technician and inspector, ProServ.Clean GmbH (for DEHOGA Berlin)

Description in brief
Time and again these waterborne bacteria are the cause of legionnaire’s disease. In 2012 for example, 600 serious cases of legionella were reported to the Robert Koch Institute. However, experts regard this figure as too low as the disease is not easy to diagnose. In Germany, sanitary facilities are regularly shut down for short periods because legionella have been discovered in drinking water.

Martin Lutz, managing partner of FIGR Forschungs- und Prüfinstitut for Facility Management GmbH and Lutz-reference books for Cleaning and Hygiene Products
Description in brief
What characterises professionals in the building cleaning trade is not only their expertise with regard to the many types of surfaces requiring cleaning, or their ability to chose the best cleaning agents for the job, but also their competence in terms of obtaining, managing and organising personnel. In order to meet the ever-increasing challenges, the expectations of employers and the daily challenges within specialist areas of the trade, wide-ranging knowledge is essential. The only way to ensure that specialist knowledge obtained through training remains up to date is to maintain a close customer/supplier relationship and to conduct training on a regular basis.
