Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

HOW CAN WE THINK TRUTH?

Not providing athletic gear for your child's sport or activity would be thoughtless, don’t you think? Think about trying to send your child out on the football field or ice rink in just a shirt and shorts. He or she would never be allowed to play because of the dangers of the sport. Not to mention the coach, I'm sure, would have a few words to share with you. So if this basic truth about thinking of our children's safety when playing a game, what do we do when it comes to sending them out into the world to fight the deadly battle for their soul and eternal life?

Proverbs 30:5 is amazing in how it tackles this thought square on, "Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him." Meditate for a minute on this verse. As parents, our responsibility is to equip our children with the proper safety gear to fight and stand against the devil, this wicked world, and our own selfishly sinful flesh. The armor of God's Holy Word is what our Father in Heaven uses to protect us, and parents particularly are the front line trainers and the ones responsible to equip their children with the strength and armor of Christ Jesus our Lord, Savior, and King!

Jesus, my Truth, my Way, My sure, unerring Light,
On Thee my feeble soul I stay, Which Thou wilt lead aright.

Give me to trust in Thee; Be Thou my sure Abode;
My Horn and Rock and Buckler be, My Savior and my God.
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 433:1, 4)
