2nd International CMS Congress – Cleaning.Management.Services.

Thomas Ramge to hold keynote speech on opening day of congress: Smart Data – how to make the digital transition work

On 23 September 2015 the journalist and author Thomas Ramge will hold the keynote speech at the opening of the 2nd International CMS Congress (23 and 24 September). In his address he will examine the wide-ranging opportunities presented by the digital transition and among the questions he asks is how we can unlock the potential of big data. The answer, in two words, is “smart data”: less data means more data, providing it is of the right kind. Smart data means taking the transition step by step and in this context the use of common sense is just important as the actual data. The aim is to achieve a better understanding of customers in all areas of application in order to ensure their loyalty as well as to increase the long-term value of customers. Naturally, one must also observe their privacy.

Born in 1971, Thomas Ramge is the technology correspondent of the business magazine ’brand eins’ and a regular contributing editor of The Economist. He was an editor of SWR, the political correspondent of Deutsche Welle TV and editor-in-chief of ’think:act’, a magazine for consultants. As a fellow of the trust ’neue verantwortung’ Ramge’s responsibilities included managing a project entitled ’Die kreative Gesellschaft’. Ramge also co-founded hartplatzhelden.de, a website for amateur footballers.

Thomas Ramge has received numerous journalism awards, including the Herbert Quandt Medienpreis, the Deutsche Wirtschaftsbuchpreis and the Best of Corporate Publishing Award. To date, Ramge has published ten non-fictional works, including the bestseller ’Die Flicks’. Together with Holm Friebe he was co-author of ’Marke Eigenbau’ which achieved cult status. In 2011 he released Data Unser (published by Redline and co-written by Björn Bloching and Lars Luck). This book was nominated for the International Book Award and translated into English and Chinese. In 2012, together with Juergen Erbeldinger and Erik Spiekermann, he published a book about “design thinking“. Most recently, he has written a story “about bullshit in large corporations” and an analytical handbook called Smart Data, both published by Rowohlt.

The 2nd International CMS Congress will take place at the international cleaning trade fair CMS Berlin 2015 – Cleaning. Management.Services. (22 to 25 Sept.). Under the heading of ’People and the market’ the event will highlight the two main factors that significantly influence cleaning industry enterprises. Senior cleaning industry executives from Europe, the United States, South Africa, India and China will be examining current aspects in a global context. The congress will take place on 23 and 24 September in the Marshall Haus, a listed building on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Simultaneous interpreting into German, English and French will be available.
