Hello Firstname

Wednesday 24 September
Next Wednesday sees the visit of Michael Krier MA from Cheltenham with his talk, Photography by Degrees. Having completed an MA in photography, Michael questions to what extent our image making should aim to satisfy judges.

Montpelier
I know many of you are interested in the progress towards the move to Montpelier. Sadly there is no real news to impart, due mainly to the lack of progress by the solicitors and we have not met the previously promised date for the exchange of contracts. However, they now suggest that we can expect progress (and hopefully exchange) on this within the next week or so.

WCPF AGM
The WCPF will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Saturday 11th October at Clyst St Mary Village Hall nr Exeter EX5 1BG Starting at 10.30am. The morning is taken up with the business of the AGM but after lunch there will be a presentation by Leo Rich ARPS DAGB APAGB EFIAP/g. Leo will be giving his talk The Idle Rich..... Sliding Into Digital. Having put himself through “the Mill” in trying to catch up with technology and going digital, Leo thought he would produce his first projected digital image talk outlining some of the pitfalls experienced along the way. This was done solely to make those poor demented creatures who have trodden the same path realise they were not alone. Still being refined this talk will probably leave you in tears – or you will go home feeling smug that your grasp of the digital world is far better than his!

You can download more about Leo's talk here and you can download a booking form here.

Things to Photograph
For those of you old enough to remember the "Cold War", there's a chance to photograph that icon of that era, the Avro Vulcan. Timeline Events, who've previously organised photo events that some BPS members have been to, are organising a photo shoot at Wellesbourne Airfield in Warwickshire in November. Full details here.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Our Secretary, John Hudson has been doing particularly well of late, he won a Bronze Medal in last weekend's Northern Counties Salon for his image, Pallid Bat over Pool. In addition he has also recently had 4 acceptances in the RPS International Images for Screen Exhibition 2014, including a Ribbon for this image Black Chinned Hummingbird:

If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
