AFFA HOLIDAY PARTY - UPDATE!

Save the date - Sunday, December 6th, 4:00-7:00 PM for AFFA's Holiday Party...and be on the lookout for an e-mailed invitation this week!  AFFA members and business members have been very generous with their donations to the silent auction. 

We will have unusual and beautiful items to display in our silent auction at the holiday party.  There will also be a great range of items size - and price-wise.  Reminder: we can accept only cash or checks since we don't have the capability for credit cards.

Come view and buy diverse creations on panels by over 100 local, regional, and national artists, during an evening featuring a silent auction, festive Mexican holiday foods and drinks, and Latin fusion music. EAST AUSTIN STUDIO TOUR

As in the past, the tour provides the opportunity to visit
Artists Studios in East Austin, 154 in total. This year, for the first time, the tour also features: 20 Exhibition Spaces, 49 Happenings, and 30 Programs all taking place throughout the 9 days of the tour. Check out the website for a complete list of studios, spaces, and happenings.

 
ARTIST AMONG US - AFFA MEMBER GALLERY

Sidney and James Mangum are new members from Shiner, TX.  They have a folk art gallery, Shinerville Folk Art, which is currently open by appointment only and special occasions.

James Mangum is the Saintmaker from Shinerville. He carves and paints saints of all types, large and small. He also creates Santas, nativities, Noah's Arks, and secular folk art. Mangum is also a noted Texas author whose first novel, Dead and Dying Angels, was optioned for film by producer Bruce Gilbert (On Golden Pond, The China Syndrome, 9 to 5). Mangum's second novel, The Vinegaroon Murders won the 2006 Violet Crown Award for Best Fiction.  Mangum and his wife, Sidney, recently published their first children's book, The Fairy and the Chupacabra, which Mangum illustrated.
