East Sussex Bead Fair
Make a day of it exploring one of the UK’s most-beautiful villages, Alfriston. In the South Downs National Park, between Brighton and Eastbourne. Stroll along the Cuckmere River, then enjoy a hill walk along Birling Gap or the Seven Sisters. Or if you’re not that energetic, dine in Brighton after the show. There’s limited parking by the hall, so best to use one of the village’s two car parks. We have refreshments at the hall, but there are also many quaint tea houses in the village. See you there!

Cambridge Bead Fair Report
Cambridge is always a busy, fun show – and this one didn’t disappoint. Lots of new visitors – some as far as St Albans, and many from Milton Keynes. The day before we enjoyed ourselves visiting Ely, a beautiful nearby Market Town. Ely was an island 500-years ago, surrounded by fenland and water. Great by the river and around the market.

CHEEKY CHIPS!
Chips are a fun and an inexpensive way to make jewellery. With a huge range of beads, usually in double-length strings – an affordable way to use semi-precious stones. Ideal for simple bracelets, necklaces or earrings.Bracelets can be quickly made by using elastic string allowing for expansion so they will fit everyone. Or chips can easily be threaded on thin bangle wire for a more steady effect.
Chips are sold in much longer strands than other types of beads – usually 32-inches long, so if you only want them for bracelets, you don’t need so many strands. They’re also the cheapest way to purchase the stone – so allowing those on a budget to use semi-precious beads they could not otherwise afford. Chips come in all sorts of sizes, coloures and shapes.
Being natural, almost all chips have irregular sizes and shapes. If you plan on using a strand of chips to make a necklace, you will need to restring them – as they come on a temporary string without any hook or clasp. It’s a good idea to use a tray or table when working with chips as their tiny size make them easy to loose. Have fun!
We have extra-long strings of chip beads from only £2.50. These are a real bargain as most bead sellers charge more for this length and the prices at source have gone up! Over 64 different chip beads at MrBead.

Enjoy a Bead Fair Soon!
Bead shows are great fun – you will love them! Bring a trolley, as beads get heavy. Take some cash, as a few venues have a weak signal for card payments. Talk to the vendors and other visitors to inspire new design ideas. Make a note of what you paid for beads, and keep exhibitors’ business cards and leaflets.
