Welcome to our first newsletter. Almost one year ago the initiative Golf IT Belgium was born. After proving the non-commercial ideology behind our intentions, i.e. registering as a non profit organization, and finding some sponsorship, today we are counting 313 people who did show their interest, over 280 members on LinkedIn and almost 80 members on the site www.golfitbelgium.be. And we are growing. Our goal is to reach the cape of 400 members at the end of the season of which at least 50 to 60 will participate at the closing event. This will give us enough strength and power to continue for the next season.

Our intentions are organizing competitions and initiations for golfers and non-golfers working in the IT sector that are living or working in Belgium. No problem for members who wants to invite their connections, even non IT. But we count on the fair play of our members to keep this initiative mainly reserved for IT people. So don’t exaggerate in inviting non IT people

Registration and Subscribing

For those who did not yet register on the site, please visit www.golfitbelgium.be/subscribe. Once registered and internally approved you will receive a password and together with your email you can log in. Once logged in you can sign in to the different events by visiting www.golfitbelgium.be/clubactivity/fulllist/upcoming or via the short overview on the top right of every page and clicking on the “sign in” button. Signing out can be done on the same way, use the “sign out” button.

The next competition and initiation will be on June 19, 2010 at the Kempense Golf Club in Mol. Green fee will be 50 EUR and initiation fee will be 35 EUR (2 hour initiation). Payment instructions can be found on the site. Those who are interested in receiving an invoice: we can’t make an invoice for the competition / initiation itself. However we can make an invoice for being an event sponsor. This requires an additional fee of 10 EUR. Please send us an email if you would like to receive an invoice.
On July 10, 2010 the competition and initiation will take place at the Flanders Nippon Golf Club in Hasselt.

At the end of the season there will be interesting prizes based upon the results of the 6 events we will organize this year. The current leader board of the Order of Merit can be found at www.golfitbelgium.be/orderofmerit. Following categories are foreseen: - Golf IT Company of the Year
- Golf IT Manger of the Year
- Golf IT Rookie of the Year
To have a good ranking in the Order of Merit, you should at least participate to 3 different events in 2010.

Besides the Order of Merit and the results of the day, we also publish the pictures taken during the events. These can be viewed at picasaweb.google.be/golfitbe. Pictures of rarities like broken clubs, orange golf balls, frustrated players, holes-in-one, putting with a driver, and others are not published. (Simply because we don’t have them,… yet. :-))

Since we are a non-profit organization without any commercial intention and are trying to organize everything as much as possible in our spare time, we strongly are depending on you as a member to extend our network.
