1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

THE WISDOM OF GOD

To Paul and the other apostles God the Spirit revealed His saving wisdom, the truth about sin and grace; about Jesus Christ, God and man; about salvation purchased and won by His living and dying in our place; about His resurrection guaranteeing our forgiveness, our resurrection.

These plans of God for us are too deep for us sinful humans to ever figure out on our own. Commenting on this, Martin Luther once said his personal approach to the salvation of the world probably would have been to take the Devil by the nose and tell him, "Let my people go!"

We can't even figure out other people's thinking and planning unless they tell us, let alone the Lord's. But, as the Apostle notes, our human spirit is well aware of our own hopes and fears even when we can't articulate them. The Holy Spirit knows no such limitation. The Spirit of God knows the mind of God AND He has revealed God's saving wisdom to, and then through, the Apostles.

Yes, through the Apostles to us! With power. Enabling us to see and believe the wonderful works of God on our behalf -- things we could neither know or accept without the Spirit's working in our hearts through the Word.

By the grace of God we have received and we do believe. We do trust in Jesus for pardon, for peace, for acceptance with God. So it is that the Wisdom of God revealed to the Apostles, recorded by them in words of God's choosing, has by the Spirit's working been implanted in our hearts.

All the world's wisdom in philosophy, psychiatry, and technology can't compare with this revealed wisdom of the one true God. In fact, hasn't worldly wisdom grown so wise that it says there is no God , no truth?

Thank God He has revealed His saving wisdom to us. Instead of such darkness we have God's forgiveness and love, His provision, protection and promises. We have Jesus Christ, the Wisdom of God. So with the apostles we have a word to speak -- the word of Christ.
