Ephesians 6:14-15 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
DO WE FORCE KIDS TO OBEY TRUTH?
KIDS HABITS ARE FUNNY, aren't they? Trying to get them to form GOOD habits is like pulling teeth. Our son is pretty good about brushing his teeth until he has a loose one. Then he avoids it like his vegetables. But whether it is brushing teeth, making the bed, doing dishes, taking out the garbage, cleaning, or just general manners, it seems we have all we can do but keep after them every minute of every day. But why do we do that? It's because we want them to develop these GOOD habits now, so they will benefit them the rest of their life.
Proverbs 22:6 says it clearly, "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Think about it. The point of teaching young ones is to help them learn and develop good study habits. Even more so with Bible study habits and remembering to thank and praise our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That's something parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family and friends can all, and should all, joyfully take part in! Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." (Mark 10:14) As we focus on Christ's kingdom this week, remember the importance of the GOOD habits we pray to set with our children not just for their earthly life, but for eternity!
Jesus, my Truth, my Way, My sure, unerring Light,
On Thee my feeble soul I stay, Which Thou wilt lead aright.
Thou seest my feebleness; Jesus, be Thou my Power,
My Help and Refuge in distress, My Fortress and my Tower.
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 433:1, 3)
