1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
What in this life is certain? What can I say is a sure thing? I see change all around me. But God's Word reminds me of three facts that are certain and never change. These three facts illustrate clearly that:
THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST AFFECTS EVERYONE!
Fact #1 -- All who live will die (except the living when Christ returns). This first fact is not intended to bring me any comfort. This first fact requires no faith to believe. I can see death all around me. Whether it is the death of plants, animals, or people. I cannot deny that I live in a dying world. Romans 6:23 reminds me what I earn in this life as a result of my sin is death. But these verses remind me also ...
Fact #2 -- All who die, will live again. It seems the majority of people in this world believe in some kind of a life after death. This fact is central in the Bible. Through Adam, sin entered the world. But by Man, and this Man refers to Jesus Christ, came the resurrection of the dead. I learn here from God's Word that through Jesus all the dead will rise when He returns. That's a fact that I can count on in this dying world!
Fact #3 -- All who believe Jesus is their Savior will live forever in heaven. The third fact is something that we learn only from the Word of God. The celebration of Good Friday was not too long ago. It actually is the best Friday there ever was because of what it means for me. Because of Christ's death, death is not something I need to fear. All who believe the forgiveness of sins in Christ will live forever. He promises it. His Word assures us of it! It is a fact. In an uncertain world, my eternal life in Christ is the one thing that I can count on!
My human reason may question how something dead and totally decayed in the ground can live again. But reason has nothing to do with it. The resurrection is a matter of faith. Jesus gives me that faith.
