BRITISH HISTORIAN REFUSES $300K ISRAEL PRIZE

Renown British historian Catherine Hall has refused a $330 000 Israeli prize. The announcement follows calls from the BDS movement urging Hall to decline the money in line with the international boycott of Israel. The prize is considered one of the most prestigious in Israel, and is often presented by Israel’s president. Click here.

IRISH FESTIVAL REJECTS ISRAEL EMBASSY FUNDING

Listowel Writers Week Festival (one of the leading literary festivals in Ireland) has announced that they have “declined any offer or form of support from the Israeli Embassy in Ireland with immediate effect” – a move in line with the Palestinian guidelines for the cultural boycott against Israel. UNI. OF WISCONSIN MADISON GRAD STUDENT UNION VOTES FOR BDS

The graduate student union at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has voted to join the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. The 9000-member union is the oldest graduate student union in the United States and is the third American student union in the last month to vote in support of BDS. Click here.

SOUTH AFRICAN RAP-RAVE MUSIC BAND "DIE ANTWOORD" URGED TO CANCEL ISRAEL GIG

Palestinians have written to the South African music band, Die Antwoord, urging the them to respect the international boycott of Israel and "stand with the oppressed, not the oppressor" (click here for the Palestinain letter).
The call for Die Antwoord to cancel their Israeli gig has also been supported by Israeli peace and justice activists belonging to the organisation “Boycott From Within” (click here for the Israeli letter). Meanwhile, BDS South Africa has requested a meeting with the music group (click here).
Join us on social media in urging Die Antwoord to postpone their Israeli performance and to join the growing list of artists and musicians who are choosing to be on the right side of history by respecting the international boycott of Israel. FOLLOWING INTERNATIONAL OUTCRY ISRAEL RELEASES 12 YEAR OLD PALESTINIAN PRISONER

Following a growing international campaign and various appeals by her parents, Israel has released the 12-year-old Dima Al Wawi, one of the youngest Palestinian political prisoners held in Israeli jails (click here for more info).

Join us in the city of Mahikeng this Friday (27 May, at 10h00, 14 Molopo Road) for an event marking the release of Dima Al-Wawi, raising awareness of the plight of Palestinian children held in Israeli prisons (currently over 400) and advancing the BDS boycott of Israel.
