Paddlesports Instructor Course opportunity: 31st August / 1st September
The British Canoeing Paddlesports Instructor is a Nationally Recognised Award aimed at providing a first instructing qualification. It is not a permit, but is a technical equivalent for B1 - please see here: https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/running-your-section/programme-guidance/information-for-volunteers/general-activity-guidance/paddlesports/kayaking/
It is aimed supporting the instructor with practical skills such as kitting up a group and getting afloat, initial familiarisation activities, games and activities to support learning and how to use mini journeys to support learning, inspire adventure and exploration. This will be enhanced with support on how these sessions can be delivered in a way that is enjoyable, safe and rewarding.
The process of completing the qualification aims to help prepare candidates for their first paddlesport instructing role; ‘primed and ready’.

Feedback from previous attendees.
D: Leader “I thought that the course was excellent. Well organised with the right amount of instruction and actual practical hands on activities. There was a good energy from the instructors which helped. Definitely have enough confidence to take groups out and know that you had a few games/ideas by the end of the session.”
F: Explorer “ The instructors were both amazing and made the course inviting and enjoyable to take part in. As well as teaching us the necessities, they provided us with extra knowledge that is very useful.”
A: Leader “Overall the course was really enjoyable and gave an excellent opportunity to learn games and techniques to engage small groups of people new to paddlesports, along with cover the basics of planning a session.
The instructors were highly engaging and supportive and gave excellent hints and tips.”
